Introducing Arran Wass-Little: The Featured Teammate in B-Stock’s Summer Spotlight

B-Stock is thrilled to welcome Arran Wass-Little to the Product team this summer! As a summer teammate, we believe Arran will be a valuable addition to the company. Arran is currently studying Data Science and Economics at the University of Florida. Learn more about Arran and read his responses to some questions below.

Q: What are you most excited to learn at B-Stock?

I’m most excited to learn about how data drives business at B-Stock and how it can be utilized. The work being done to advance the product is fascinating, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? (Or still want to be!)

When I was a kid, I aspired to be an actor. Although my interests have changed over the years, I still have a great appreciation for movies, TV, and theatre.

Q: What is one piece of advice you’ve been given that has stuck?

When you hear hooves beat, think horses, not zebras. This advice, given to medical students for diagnostics, emphasizes the importance of considering the most probable diagnosis before jumping to unlikely scenarios. My friend shared this advice with me, and I have found it applicable in both business and personal situations. It is easy to get stressed and overthink a problem, but I try to remember not to immediately assume the worst-case scenario.

Q: Where can people find you after work or school?

After work or school, you can likely find me playing card games or board games with friends, or cooking delicious food in the kitchen.

Q: What is a hidden talent of yours?

As a child, I used to perform magic, so I am quite skilled with a deck of cards and still remember some impressive tricks!

Q: What plays in the background while you work (music genre, podcast, news)?

The background music I listen to while working depends on the task, but generally, I enjoy lo-fi hip hop. Lately, I have also been exploring Spotify’s new AI DJ.

Q: Where would you go with unlimited PTO?

If I had unlimited PTO, I would love to explore the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Specifically, I would visit Greece, Turkey, Armenia, Lebanon, and Jordan.

Q: What do you do when you’re stuck creatively? How do you get the creative juices flowing?

When I hit a creative block, I usually take a break. I find that the best, albeit sometimes challenging, solution is to step away and come back later refreshed and ready to tackle the problem.

Q: What’s something you’ve accomplished that you’re proud of?

Having just graduated, I am proud of completing my education and the challenges I faced throughout the pandemic. Going to university during such difficult times was not easy, and I feel a sense of accomplishment for all that I have achieved.

Q: What is one thing you hope to contribute to B-Stock?

I hope to make a meaningful and tangible impact within my team. Although 10 weeks may not seem like a long time, I believe that by focusing on a specific project, I can make a significant contribution in my own small way.
